School Notices

15th February 2022

Kia Ora Whanau,

We are monitoring the Omicron situation very closely and carefully.  Please ensure that if your child is unwell they stay home and any students who are unwell will be sent home.

ISOLATION
If someone in your household is isolating, please contact the school and let us know. Students will need to isolate themselves with your household and for the length of time your household is in isolation.  Your privacy and confidentiality will be maintained at all times with our staff.  Students will need a negative test prior to returning to school.  This will need to be sent to our Deputy Principal/Privacy Officer, Mrs Good via email –  taniag@leabank.school.nz

INDIVIDUAL ISOLATION
Online learning tasks will be set by the class teacher.  Your child’s class teacher will email or telephone to check in on you all and ensure your child has learning tasks that align as much as possible to the class programme.  Please remember that the class teacher will be mainly occupied with teaching the children at school and will not be readily available during the school time.

A COVID POSITIVE CASE WHILE AT SCHOOL
If a child or staff member was identified as a positive case, then all students in that Team  bubble and their siblings would be sent home.  You will receive a text or phone call from our staff asking you to collect your children from the front of the school like we currently do for pick up.  If you have another child in another class they will also go home with you.

A POSITIVE CASE OUT OF SCHOOL HOURS
If a child or staff member was identified as a positive case out of school hours we would contact those families who would need to isolate immediately.  Please ensure that we have your correct and up to date contact details should we need to contact you urgently.

WHOLE TEAM OR SCHOOL ISOLATION
In the event of a school or whole team bubble isolation, then online learning would occur for that team.  Please refer to the online learning information sent out with the Hard Learning packs.  Class teachers will email students about online learning times and expectations.

Team bubble isolation would occur if a child tested positive while at school. School isolation would occur if we do not have enough teachers at school and can no longer safely staff our school to remain open.

WHERE YOU CAN GET SUPPORT
If you need support during self-isolation, call the COVID Welfare Phone Line on 0800 512 337.  They will connect you with someone who can help. This could be a local community organisation, a government agency, a marae-based service or support that iwi have established.

Thank you everyone as we work together for the good of our school and community. Your support, flexibility and trust is what makes our community a great one.  I will continue to keep you updated when things change.
