Cohort or group entry for children starting Leabank School

Cohort entry is where children start school for the first time in groups on set dates, rather than on or after their fifth birthday. Starting school as part of a group has lots of benefits for children. They often feel less anxious and settle more quickly when they start together with other new children.

Once your child has completed their 3 days visit, he/she will start in weeks 1 or 6 of the term.

Our next cohort is week 1 and week 6 of Term 4.

If your child is turning 5, it would be a good idea to enrol them at least a month before their 5th birthday so your child can have at least three pre-school visits to help them settle well into their classroom environment. Pre-school visits can only be organised once your child is enrolled.
